Once a year a small village in the district of Steinburg turns into the secret capital of the metal world. Wacken Open Air is the biggest heavy metal festival on the planet and draws tens of thousands of fans from more than 80 countries every August. If you want to be right in the middle of it and still arrive rested, clean and well fed, stay with us.
From Liesbüttel it is only about 18 km to Wacken, roughly 17 to 20 minutes by car. That makes the guesthouse one of the closest fixed places to stay. The A23 motorway with the Hanerau-Hademarschen and Schenefeld exits is right on the doorstep.
Why a room beats a tent
- Your own bed and quiet away from the constant noise
- Your own shower and a clean bathroom instead of long queues
- A hearty breakfast to recharge before the next day
- Somewhere to dry your clothes, priceless in the famous Wacken rain
- Safe parking and a socket to charge your phone
- Late arrival or early departure without packing up a tent in the dark
Getting there and shuttle
By car you take the A23 to Hanerau-Hademarschen or Schenefeld and reach the grounds within minutes. The official festival also runs shuttle buses from Itzehoe station, often included with a valid ticket. Our tip: leave the car here and take the shuttle or a lift to the grounds, which saves you the parking chaos.
Book early
Wacken has only around 1,800 inhabitants and grows many times over for a few days. Fixed beds are scarce in the whole area and usually gone months in advance. Many of our festival guests return year after year. If you want a sure spot, ask early, ideally as soon as your festival ticket is sorted.
